Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Christ¡¯s Greatest Concern
Matthew 6:9 ~ 6:10

2002-09-15

It is a great blessing to be able to pray. We can have daily communication with God and receive His peace, joy, and help through prayer. However, many Christians don't know how to pray. Even the disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. We can read the Lord's Prayer, which is divided in two parts: Christ's greatest concern and man's concern. The things that concern Christ are the things we must pray about first.

Hallowed be your name. God's name is holy and sacred. We must worship Him because He is holy (Psalm 29:2), continually praise Him (Hebrews 13:15), and sing the glory of His name (Psalm 66:2). We honor Him when we give Him thank offerings (Psalm 50:23). Why do we worship God in these ways? He is our Creator and worthy of praise (Revelation 4:11), He rules the earth (Psalm 96:10), and He has provided salvation for us (Revelation 7:10). God will bring His children to the new heaven and the new earth that He has made for them (Isaiah 66:22).

Your kingdom come. Where is God's kingdom? It is not in a land or territory; it is within each Christian (1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:5,6). Adam and Eve belonged to the kingdom of heaven, made to guard and care for the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:15). But when they rebelled and sinned against God, they became part of the kingdom of Satan. From then on, mankind has been under the authority of Satan. But Jesus has freed us by His death and resurrection and destroyed the power of Satan (Hebrews 1:1-3; 2:14,15). We now have the authority and power to represent God on earth (Luke 10:19,20; Mark 16:17-20; Revelation 12:11). Let us represent His name well. Let us be filled with forgiveness, righteousness, holiness, and prayer.

Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We must not rebel against God's authority. Satan fell from heaven because he challenged God (Isaiah 14:12-15). Jesus fully obeyed the will of God, even to His death on the Cross (Philippians 2:5-8). We must fill our lives with Jesus Christ and live under His authority. God has a will for us. What is it? We must spread the Gospel so all people can be saved (1 Timothy 2:4). We must be sanctified (1 Thessalonians 4:3). It is His will that we are always joyful, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). It is His will that we enjoy good health and that all may go well with us, even as our souls are getting along well (3 John 1:2). We must always be alert and pray (Luke 21:34-36). Christ's greatest concern is that we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness

Heavenly Father, we know that only You are holy, and You deserve our worship, glory, and praise. Help us to always do Your will and reveal Your glory on earth.
