Let’s Go Over to the Other Side of the Lake
Luke 8:22 ~ 8:25

Luke 8:22-25, NIV

22 One day Jesus said to his disciples, "Let's go over to the other side of the lake." So they got into a boat and set out.
23 As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.
24 The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Master, Master, we're going to drown!" He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.
25 "Where is your faith?" he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, "Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him."

Introduction: Description of event.

1. There is no one without faith.

1) One who believes he has no faith (Mk 4:40).
2) One with little faith (Mt 6:25-34).
3) One with great faith (Mt 15:28).
- The Canaanite woman's plea.

2. Faith and trials.

1) Circumstantial trials―reality opposite to what was believed in
(Lk 8:23; Ps 107:28-30).
2) Physical senses (2Co 5:7; Jas 1:6-7).
3) Tests from the devil (1Jn 2:16; 1Pe 5:8-9).
4) Focus of faith

♩ Believing only in the Word
♪ Confessing the Word of God

3. Faith and patience.

- Abraham's waiting (Ro 4:18-20).
1) Waiting in front of the Red Sea during the exodus from Egypt
(Ex 14:13-14; Heb 11:29).
2) Joshua and the march around Jericho (Heb 11:30).
3) Daniel's 21 days of waiting (Da 10:12-14).
- Faith means waiting for God's planned time
It is like a farmer waiting for the harvest after sowing seed (Jas 5:7-8).

Conclusion: The kingdom of God is based on faith―not on science or philosophical discussion. God says that the righteous will live by faith. The Lord makes things happen according to our faith.
