The Movement of Sharing Love and Happiness
Matthew 19:16-26, NIV 16 Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?" 17 "Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, obey the commandments." 18 "Which ones?" the man inquired. Jesus replied, " 'Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,' and 'love your neighbor as yourself.' " 20 "All these I have kept," the young man said. "What do I still lack?" 21 Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." 22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. 23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." 25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, "Who then can be saved?" 26 Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
Introduction: The human ideal was to have equality in life. However, in every society, a gulf exists between the rich and the poor, and human rights have been ignored and violated to different degrees. Historically, in order to solve these problems, many ideologies have been proposed, all of which have resulted in failure to come up with the perfect solution. The solution to these problems will always be out of reach for humankind, unless they solve the fundamental issues of sin, greed, and selfishness.
1. The depraved human heart seized by covetous desire and greed. - The story of a rich young man (Mt 19:16-22; Col 3:5; Jas 1:14-15).
2. Great ideologies made by human beings. 1) Communism. ① An ideology that all materials are held by the state and the state should distribute them fairly. ② Fierce dictatorship. ③ It makes people lazy and unproductive. 2) Capitalism. ① Approves private ownership of property. ② A fierce life of competition and struggle. ③ It gains productivity through energetic efforts. ④ It deepens serious corruption and the gaps between rich and poor.
3. The tragedy of Wall Street. - The tragedy of the Tower of Babel (Ge 11:4; Pr 16:18).
4. What are the solutions? 1) Sharing love and happiness (Lk 10:27; Mt 25:40; Jas 2:15-17; Lk 6:38; 2Co 9:6-9). 2) With man, it is impossible, but with God, all things are possible (Mt 19:26; Zec 4:6). 3) Repent and receive the Holy Spirit (Ac 4:32-35).
Conclusion: Man-made ideology is imperfect. Unless the government is omnipotent, it cannot solve everything. Might or power cannot remove the greed and selfishness of humankind. When the Spirit of God comes and we have the mind of Christ, only then can the miracle of change happen to us.
