2 "This is what the LORD says, he who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it-the LORD is his name: 3 ´Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.´ "
Introduction: Job said, "A man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward." In the past, people in the countryside made a bonfire to drive away mosquitoes. In order for fire to burn well, people use rice straw and haulm. Just as a law of nature never changes, human beings can never prevent hardship. We are always suffering from small and big problems, hard pressed on every side, perplexed, persecuted, ensnared, disappointed, betrayed, and struck down. When we are in complete despair and darkness and our troubles weigh on us so heavily that we want to die, we must kneel down before God and cry out to Him in prayer. There are words of great comfort for those of us who undergo such experiences. These words are found in Jeremiah 33:2-3.
1. Call to me 1) Call to me (Ps 91:15). ⓛ God wants us to call to Him. ② God speaks because He is able to solve our problems-He is not just speaking for fun (Jer 33:2). ③ Come to me-Jesus asks us to bring our problems to Him (Mt 11:28). 2) Call to me. ⓛ A fervent prayer-Hannah´s prayer. Eli the priest thought she was drunk (1Sa 1:12-13). ② A desperate prayer-of a woman from Syrian Phoenicia (Mk 7:28-29). ③ A struggling prayer-of the blind beggar Bartimaeus ( Mk 10:51-52).
2. I will answer you. 1) An idol cannot answer, but God answers. - The God who answers by fire (1Ki 18:21-39; 18:36-38). 2) He sent a heavy rain (1Ki 18:41-45). 3) The promise of an answer (Jas 5:17-18; Jn 14:13-14).
3. Great and unsearchable things you do not know. 1) Where does my help come from? (Ps 121:1-2). - We cannot fathom the depths of His thoughts (Isa 55:8-9). 2) God who prepares (1Co 2:9; Ro 8:32). - Do not think that we have come to a dead end, for God´s thoughts are higher than ours. 3) Great and unsearchable things. These things are hidden from us. ⓛ A mysterious way through the Red Sea (Ex 14:21-22). ② A mysterious tree near the water at Marah (Ex 15:23-25). ③ A mystery that water was turned into wine (Jn 2:7-9). ④ A mystery that Lazarus who had been dead four days revived (Jn 11:43-44). - God has great and unsearchable answers that human beings cannot even imagine.
Conclusion : Prayer is the secret to open the door of heaven and to move the hand of God. It is not ordinary prayer but fervent, desperate, and struggling prayer that comes from the depths of our heart. This kind of prayer moves God, and He will show us great and unsearchable answers that we cannot even imagine.
