Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
I Met the Messiah
John 1:43 ~ 1:45

2007-10-28

"43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, "Follow me." 44 Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. 45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote - Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

Introduction: A meeting brings about small and big changes. We learn about life by meeting our parents, we learn knowledge by meeting a teacher, and learn about love and community life by meeting a spouse. Above all things, we become a citizen of heaven by meeting Jesus.

1. Jesus who preached the Gospel.
    1) Jesus who evangelizes-Repent for the kingdom of heaven is near.
Do not think that there is only the material world, but change your thinking and
accept the eternal heaven (Mk 1:14-15).
    2) Jesus who taught.
¨ç The kingdom, the trinity-the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit dwell in it.
¨è Whoever believes in Jesus will be saved and become a citizen of heaven, but
            non believers will perish.
¨é The Day of Judgment and the end of the age will come (Mt 24:14).

2. Jesus who healed.
    1) Jesus drove out every devil in the synagogues and in the marketplaces (Lk 4:33-35).
    2) Jesus healed every disease-He even brought the dead back to life (Mt 4:23-24).
    3) Jesus told the twelve disciples and the seventy others that they must heal the sick
when they preach (Mt 10:1; Lk 10:1, 9).

3. Jesus who suffered.
    1) Jesus was insulted and beaten in the courtyard of the high priest (Mk 14:63-65).
    2) Jesus was flogged in the courtyard of Pilate-He took up our infirmities and He
        suffered (Mk 15:14-15).
    3) Jesus was crucified at Calvary-Human beings, unrighteous mortal beings,
crucified the righteous immortal God (Isa 53:4-6).
    4) Jesus was resurrected from the grave.
¨ç Jesus´ grave was empty while other graves had dead bodies and bones
            (Lk 24:1-3).
¨è Jesus overcame death and rose again (Mt 28:6-7).
¨é We will not be lying down in our grave (Jn 11:25-26).

4. An encounter with Jesus and a change.
    1) Understand the universe and life by receiving the light of truth (Jn 14:6; 8:2).
    2) Realize that life continues-From life on earth to life in heaven, there is no end of
        life (Eph 2:3-6).
    3) Realize the purpose, meaning, and value of life.
¨ç The purpose-Go to heaven, our Father´s house (Jn 14:2-3).
¨è The meaning-Serve and please God and Jesus (Mt 22:37; 6:33).
¨é The value-Preach the Good News and receive rewards in heaven (2Ti 4:2, 8).

Conclusion : When you meet Jesus, He comes into your life as a light, heaven comes into your heart, the Word of God becomes wisdom and knowledge in your life, and you receive eternal hope, joy, and peace.
