"When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ´I will return to the house I left.´ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation."

Introduction : An explanation of the Word


1. The unoccupied house
    1) Loneliness and sorrow in an unoccupied house
        (1) My house in the countryside where I was left alone when my family moved to
             Pusan in the fifth year of my elementary school; in the room of my children when
             they left to study abroad
        (2) Depression, the reason for sorrow-when we have no master in our hearts
             (Pr 1:27, Ps 42:5)
    2) Fear in an unoccupied house-reasons for all kinds of fear arising in one´s heart
        (1) Fear in an unoccupied hut located near the cemetery
        (2) An unoccupied haunted house and a ghost we saw in a horrible drama
        (3) It is fearful to meet people    (Ps 55:4-5)

2. The house lived in by the seven demons
    1) A house without a master-where all kinds of juvenile delinquents hang out
        (Ro 1:28-32)
    2) The world without a master-war, disease, poverty, and strife    (1Jn 5:19, Jer 6:7)
    3) The disorder of a society and a nation where there is no master
        (Am 5:10-13, Hos 8:7)

3. The house lived in by the true master
    1) Well cleaned, repaired, arranged, and decorated-righteousness, truth, and
        holiness    (Eph 4:22-24, 1Co 6:19-20, 2Co 5:17)
    2) Where there is the happiness of life and treasure-faith, hope, love, peace,
        and joy    (1Co 2:9, Eph 3:17)
    3) Where we are protected and secure-the Holy Spirit and angels   (Jn 14:16, Heb 1:14)


Conclusion : Human beings are created as houses where God lives. A house without God becomes unoccupied, where seven evil spirits come and great anxiety does not cease. However, we can have joy, peace, and happiness in our lives when we believe in Jesus and serve God.
