Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Resist the Devil
1 Peter 5:8 ~ 5:9

2006-11-12

Introduction : According to Sun Tzu, Chinese author of The Art of War, (an ancient Chinese book on military strategy), we will win every battle if we know the enemy and we know ourselves. If we know the devil and we know our authority, we can win every fight with the devil.

1. The fight against the devil
    1) Through knowledge - brings wrong information, a falsehood that Eve would be like
God when she ate of it (Ge 3:4-5)
    2) Through feeling - Makes people violate the law of God by causing greed
        (emotional suppression)
        - Adam caused greed that he would be like God (Ge 3:6 First half)
    3) Through volition - Disobey from humanism (Ge 3:6 Second half)
    4) Physically - suppresses, weakens, and makes sick (Ac 10:38)
    5) Environmentally - The suffering of Job (possessions, children, disease) (Job 2:10)

2. Who are we?
    1) We participate in the grace of Jesus - Jesus disarmed the devil (Col 2:14-15)
    2) Power and authority
        (1) The devil has great power (Dunamis) (Isa 14:12, Eze 28:14)
        (2) We have the authority of the children of God (Ecclesia) (Lk 10:17-19)
            - The authority controls the power (Jn 1:12, Lk 11:21-22)
    3) In my name they will drive out demons
        - There is a promise (Mk 16:17-18)

3. The actual battle against the devil
    1) Find out the devil´s true color and firmly resist
        - In the name of Jesus, through the precious blood, and the word of promise
            (Ac 16:18, Mt 4:10, Rev 12:11, Jas 4:7)
    2) Praise God and Jesus
        - The war between King Jehoshaphat and the allied forces of Moab and Ammon
            (Ps 22:3, 2Ch 20:22-23)
    3) Stand firm on the Word of God, and be positive
        - Be patient and continue to fight (Eph 6:17, Mk 9:29)

Conclusion : The devil is always fixing his eyes on us-whether we know it or not. We will be sacrificed if we do not resist the devil.
