Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Simple Happiness
Philippians 4:4 ~ 4:7

2006-10-22

Introduction : Most people just live an ordinary life. Some people say their life is full of pain and do not have the desire to live. Only a few people say they have a happy life. But if we take a closer look, all of us can learn to live and enjoy a happy life.

1. Discovering the meaning of life and purpose
    1) Since Adam´s fall, human beings have:
        (1) Lost their hometown of life - Eden (Isa 1:4)
        (2) Lost the way to Eden (Jer 17:5)
        (3) Lost themselves and life (Jas 4:14)
        - must recover the lost hometown, the way and our identity in order to have
           happiness in our heart.
    2) God who seeks human beings
¡Û Through the redemption of Jesus (Isa 56:6)
        (1) We find the bosom of God who is our hometown (Jn 1:12)
        (2) We find the way to God (the Fivefold Gospel) (Jn 14:6, Eph 3:12)
        (3) We find our lost identity (1Pe 2:9)
        - Acquiring the meaning of life, which is to serve God, the value of life, which is to
serve Jesus, the purpose of life, which is to gain heaven (Jn 6:40, 14:3)

2. A humble heart that has thrown away greed
    1) Greed and failure
        (1) Adam´s greed and failure (Jas 1:14~15)
        (2) David´s greed and failure - committing adultery with Uriah´s wife (2Sa 12:10, 14)
    2) Living in God´s grace (Mt 6:24-33)

3. Keeping good human relationships
    1) Family relationships
        (1) God created Adam and Eve - the relationship between husband and wife
             (Ge 2:24, Eph 5:33)
        (2) The relationship between parents and children (Eph 6:1-4)
        (3) The relationship with brothers and sisters (Pr 17:17)
        (4) The relationship with neighbors (Ro 15:2)
    2) For good human relationships
        (1) Always try to understand the other person (1Pe 3:8)
        (2) Always share joy and sorrow (Ro 12:15)
        (3) Be patient (Ro 15:5, Eph 4:2-3)
        (4) Must love - with forgiveness and reconciliation (Lk 6:36-37, Gal 5:13-14)

4. Thanksgiving and maintaining health
    1) Enjoy your health - it is miserable when health is lost (Ps 6:2, 103:2-3)
    2) Invest in your health
        (1) A joyful mind with peace (Pr 17:22, Ps 16:11)
        (2) A healthy diet (1Co 10:31)
        (3) Exercise (1Co 6:19-20)
    3) God´s hospital and the world´s hospital
        (1) Be admitted with faith to God´s hospital
            - God is the doctor; Jesus is the medicine (Ex 15:26, 1Pe 2:24)
        (2) With no such knowledge or faith, we have to depend on the world´s hospital

Conclusion : If we will satisfactorily control these four conditions, it is possible to have simple happiness in life.
