Introduction : There are many expressions to describe experiences in life when we are on the edge of a cliff. For example, the idiom "driven into a corner" means that we are in a dilemma-we cannot advance or retreat. If you "burn your bridges behind you," this idiom means that you will eliminate any possibility of retreating to a former position or an earlier situation. In either situation, we need to risk our life. We can survive-only when we have faith. We have a proverb, "Take a step forward on the edge of a cliff." When we are on the edge of a cliff, we can take one more step forward-only when we have faith.


1. The Israelites that arrived at the Red Sea
    1) The Israelites were on the edge of a cliff, attacked by the Egyptian king, Pharaoh
        - They were in a dilemma, driven into a corner    (Ex 14:9)
    2) Should they take one more step forward or give up life?
        (1) The Israelites were resentful and lamented in despair    (Ex 14:10-12)
        (2) Moses chose faith on the edge of a cliff - he took a step farther by faith
             (Ex 14;13-14)

2. The faith of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego
    1) Worshipping the image of gold that King Nebuchadnezzar had set up on the plain
        of Dura    (Da 3:6-7)
    2) To advance by faith or give up at the crossroads of life and death on the edge of
        a cliff    (Da 3:15)
    3) Three men chose faith - they met the fourth man in the blazing furnace
        (Da 3:17-18, 25, 29-30).

3. Life on the edge of a cliff that we encounter
    1) We are asked to decide between God and the world
        - should we love and trust in God even if we fail or die?    (Da 6:10)
    2) We are tested to determine if we have real faith or fake faith.
        - Fake faith never leaves the edge of a cliff    (Ge 12:1, 22:1-2, Heb 11:8, 17)
    3) We are tested to see if we have true hope for the kingdom of heaven
        (Ro 8:17, 1Pe 4:12-13)
    4) In order to understand that faith has a wing of a miracle
        (Mk 11:23-24, Heb 10:37-39)


Conclusion : We can have true faith on the edge of a cliff. Jesus´ disciples once ran away from there. However, they stood there boldly after the Day of Pentecost.
