Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
The Sin of Bringing Disgrace Upon God
2 Kings 2:23 ~ 2:25

2006-02-19

Introduction : Outline of 2 Kings 2:23-25

1. Go on up, you baldhead
    1) Jeered at Elisha´s ascension
        (1) A word that despises God - Ananias and Sapphira were the same
            (2Ch 36:16, Ac 5:3-6)
        (2) Have a hostile action toward God - A word that disregards the miracles of God
            (Nu 14:11-12, 1Sa 2:30)
    2) The judgment of Jesus for a Pharisee who jeered at Jesus´ miracle
        (Mt 12:22-24, 31-32)

2. Do not judge people by their appearance
    1) Racial discrimination brings disgrace upon the God of creation - (1Sa 16:7, Jas 2:9)
        Hines Ward and MVP
    2) God loves all people, regardless of their outward appearance
        - God loves (Lk 16:22, 25)
humankind like worms. Even though I do not have what every person has¡¦
(A confession of a lady with cerebral palsy)
    3) Appearance is a momentary thing, but the heart is an eternal thing.
The rich man and the beggar Lazarus

3. Do not hurt the servant of God
    1) The second son Ham and his curse who jeered at his father Noah    (Ge 9:24-27)
    2) Miriam and Aaron who blamed Moses and the wrath of God    (Nu 12:1-2, 8, 10, 14)
    3) The behavior of Saul and David the anointed one    (1Sa 19:1)
        (1) Saul continually tried to kill David who was anointed by God
        (2) David did not kill Saul who was a corrupt servant of God, although David had two
             chances to kill him
    4) These people threatened Elisha
        (1) Young people between 10 and 30 years of age
        (2) Forty-two were injured, a group of at least fifty people
        (3) Planned terrorism and the curse of God    (Lev 26:21-22)

Conclusion : Many people have disgraced God, and they do not feel ashamed of what they did. Moreover, even the children of God insult the name of God knowingly and unknowingly. We cannot enjoy peace when we insult God. Such people will surely face the judgment of God.
