A Man Reaps What He Sows
Galatians 6:7 ~ 6:10

2005-11-20

Introduction : Farming is honest. A farmer reaps what he sows. The land does not cheat us. If we plant beans, we will harvest beans. However, we think that the way we live our lives is different. But God tells us that the law of sowing and reaping is the same in our lives. It is impossible to deceive God. Whatever we sow in life we will harvest.

1. The law of sowing and reaping and the Garden of Eden
    1) Adam and Eve did not sow the Word of God
        - If they had done that, they would have lived happily forever. (Ge 2:17)
    2) Adam sowed the seed, the temptation of the devil - he reaped death, failure,
        and despair. (Ge 3:19)
    3) The devil intended to sow rebellion with the temptation of Jesus in the desert of
        Judea.
        (1) Why did God make His Son hungry? So, make this stone become bread and eat
             it. (Mt 4:3-4)
        (2) Since God did not make you famous, perform a miracle, using your power as
His Son, and become famous (Mt 5-7)
        (3) God did not give you the splendor of all the kingdoms of the world, but I will give
it to you if you bow down to me
            - The devil sowed the seed of temptation to make Jesus disappointed with God
and rebel against Him, but Jesus would not accept it. (Mt 4:10)

2. Be careful what you sow
    1) If we sow greed, sin will grow, and we will reap death. The wages of greed is death.
        (Jas 1:15, Col 3:5-6)
    2) If we sow complaints and resentment, we will reap misfortune, failure, and
        disappointment.
        - Negative thinking, dreaming, believing, and speaking, results in a desert life
            (the Israelites) (Nu 14:27-29, 11:1-2, 21:6)
    3) If we sow thanks and praise - our thinking, dreaming, believing, and speaking will
be positive, flowing with milk and honey. (Mt 25:29, Php 4:;13, 6:-7)

3. The person whom God seeks
    - The person who gives thanks and praise to God in every circumstance
    1) King Saul and King David
        (1) Saul was filled with envy, jealousy, and rage, and God abandoned him.
            (He didn´t write any psalm) (1 Sa 15:23, 19:1)
        (2) David gave God many psalms to praise Him, so he was called "a man after
             the heart of God".(Ac 13:21-22)
    2) Paul and Silas praised God even in prison
        - The apostle Paul suffered bitterly while he preached the Gospel
           (2Co 11:23-29, Ac 16:25-26)
    3) Count your blessings and give thanks for everything - giving thanks blesses God.
        (Ps 100:4, 50:23, Rev 1:5-6)

Conclusion : (Ps 37:1-2, 4)
When people sow evil and unrighteousness, they seem to flourish temporarily, but they are destroyed in the end. This has been proven throughout history and human experience. However, when people sow goodness, love, thanks, praise, devotion, and faithfulness, they reap a lot of blessings. We must not try to deceive God. He is never deceived, and He makes us reap what we sow.
