Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
The Inward Person That Is Not Seen
2 Corinthians 4:16 ~ 5:1

2005-10-16

Introduction : The inward person that is not seen and the outward person that is seen in creation. * Compare to Ezekiel 37:1-10.

1. The truth about the soul, the inward person
    1) The inward person that is not seen. In other words, the "soul". The outward person
that is seen when the inward person is left. The flesh, the outward person, will
        certainly die
        (1) The death of Ananias (Ac 5:1-5, 10)
        (2) The soul that is away from the flesh (2Co 5:8~9; Php 1:28)
    2) The inward person of immortality that is not seen. In other words, the "soul".
¡Û The reality of the rich man and beggar Lazarus after death. (Lk 16:22-24)

2. Why should we be renewed?
    1) The inward person that is not seen. In others words, a person with a dead soul.
        - Death doesn´t mean disappeared, but disconnects the relation between God and
           humankind (Pr 3:32, Ro 8:6)
    2) A person who lives in the flesh - Lives by physical sense, desire and reason
        (2Pe 2:10, Ju 1:9)
    3) The question of Nicodemus
¡Û How can a man be born when he is old? (Jn 3:4-5)
        (1) Flesh gives birth to flesh, but spirit gives birth to spirit. God´s people are born
again by the Word of God (water) and the Holy Spirit. This means the inward
person that is not seen. In other words, the soul is renewed. (Ro 6:6, Ti 3:5)
        (2) We can be renewed by believing in Jesus
            - The inward person must be renewed to communicate with God. (1Jn 5:1, 1:7)

3. The inward person who lives by the Spirit
    1) Live a changed life by the Word of God (Eph 4:22-24, Lk 11:28)
    2) Live by dreams and inspiration of the Holy Spirit
        - New identity and self-image (Col 1:13, Eph 3:16)
    3) Live by faith (Ro 10:17, Heb 10:38)
    4) Live by using the language of heaven
    5) Live by love

Conclusion : A person of the flesh (the outward person) gets older as time goes by and dies. However, the inward person (soul) that is not seen will either fall into hell forsaken by God, or enter into heaven by believing in Jesus, and will be renewed by the Holy Spirit with spiritual growth. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
