Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
A Heritage from the Lord
Psalms 127:3 ~ 127:5

2004-05-02

Introduction : A heritage is a foundation for living. Based on a heritage, people produce things for living, earn money, and live their lives. God said, "Sons are a heritage from God." Through us, God makes heavenly people, and through this work He blesses us. Therefore, we should make every effort to raise our children, a heritage from God.

1. Parents are role models for their children.
    1) Role models for their children´s character - conversation (Gal 6:7).
        (1) Children learn a language from their parents.
        (2) Children learn about human relationships from their parents.
        (3) Role models of their character for good and evil - family traditions.
    2) Children learn the values of life from their parents (Mt 6:33).

2. Food for body and food for mind.
    1) To meet the physical needs of children - child abuse, labor.
    2) Food for mind - love.
        (1) The one who is loved and the one who is mistreated (Eph 6:4).
        (2) An important being, self-humbling, and self-respecting (Mt 18:4,5).
        (3) Praise your children and implant dreams into them.

3. The right education for children.
    1) Divine education.
        (1) Serve and worship God (Mal 3:17).
        (2) Commandments (Ex 20:6; Pr 1:7,8).
    2) Human education - honesty, sincerity, diligence, faithfulness, filial piety, and respect
        (Pr 22:6; 1 Ki 3:6).
    3) School education (Jas 1:15).

4. Environment and friends.
    1) Debauchery, corruption, and secular greed (1 Jn 2:15,16; 5:19).
    2) Good friends, bad friends (Pr 18:24; 1 Co 15:33,34).

5. God´s blessing.
    1) Always pray (Lk 23:38; Jdg 13:12).
    2) Always bless (Mk 10:15,16; Ps 127:3).

Conclusion : Raising children, a heritage from God, is a truly blessed work. If we bring up our children well, we will be praised and blessed by God. Moreover, if our children are raised well, they will bring us great blessing in the future.
