Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Belief and Obedience
Luke 4:25 ~ 4:30

2004-04-25

Introduction : Continuous unbelief and disobedience were the main reasons why God destroyed the Israelites in the desert whom He had liberated and led out of Egypt. Collective unbelief and disobedience were the things that made God angry at Kadesh-Barnea, which was on the border of Canaan overflowing with milk and honey. (The negative report of ten spies and the collective unbelief and disobedience of the Israelites.)

1. Unbelief and disobedience in Nazareth, Jesus´ hometown.
    1) A widow of Zarephath in the time of Elijah (1 Ki 17:8-16; Mk 6:4,5).
    2) Naaman in the time of Elisha (2 Ki 5:1-14; Ps 81:10,11).

2. Unbelief, disobedience, and the repentance of Martha and Mary.
    1) Mary only acknowledges Jesus of the past and disbelieves Jesus of the present
        (Jn 11:21-26).
    2) Mary resists at the grave of Lazarus (Jn 11:39).
        (1) Did not move the stone and disobeyed.
        (2) Did not believe that her brother would live (Jn 6:63).
    3) Repentance and the scolding of Jesus (Jn 11:40).
        (1) Mary changed her mind to believe.
        (2) Obeyed and moved the stone.
        (3) The Lord performed a miracle (Heb 13:8).

3. The invitation of Jesus Christ.
Jesus and His disciples saw a cow and a calf plowing the field (Mt 11:28-30).
    1) The Lord said that He would carry the burden and do the work.
        - I will give you rest (Jer 33:2,3; Mt 6:33).
    2) Take my yoke upon you and learn from me.
        - The way to go to under His yoke.
        (1) Gentleness - obedience (Heb 3:18; 5:8,9; Ps 37:11).
        (2) Humility - belief (Php 2:5; 1 Pe 5:5,7; Heb 11:6).

Conclusion : The choice of living with a heavy burden or living with a restful mind depends on whether you believe the Lord and commit things to Him or disobey with doubt.
