The Bitter Water of Marah Became Sweet
Exodus 15:22 ~ 15:26

2017-12-17

The Israelites who left Egypt faced a difficulty in the Desert of Shur. They walked in the barren desert for four days, but did not get water. In turn, many people suffered. When they reached Marah, they couldn't drink water because it was bitter. In our Christian life, there are times when we face various painful situations and bitter water of Marah.

1. The cross that makes bitter water sweet
1) Our life is like a journey that passes through the desert and heads toward the land of Canaan. In our journey of life, there are various painful situations like hunger and thirst. (Eccl 2:22~23)
2) Those who believe in God have hope. Just as the bitter water became sweet when Moses threw a piece of wood into the water as God told him to, if the cross of Jesus comes into our life, the bitter water of life will become sweet by the power. If we rely on the cross of Jesus, the bitter water of sins, filthiness, diseases, curses, and death will disappear. (1 Cor. 1:18)

2. The fourth dimensional spirituality that brings about a change of life
1) Jesus changed our life in a new way through the cross. (Mark 9:23)
2) If we have a positive heart, embrace hopeful dreams, have faith, and confess with our mouths, the Lord will work and change the bitter water of life into sweet water. (Prov. 4:23)

3. Rely on the Counselor Holy Spirit
1) The Holy Spirit who is always with us changes worry and anxiety into joy. (John 14:16)
2) If the Holy Spirit works, anxiety and fear will change into peace. (Ps. 55:16~18)
3) God works for the good in all things for us. (Rom. 8:28)

Conclusion
We have to pass through the desert in order to experience God's blessings. If God is with us, the desert can become the place of miracles and blessings. God fed, clothed, and quenched thirst for His people for 40 years in the desert where there was nothing. In addition, God guided His people with the pillars of clouds and fire in the desert where there was no path. God is with us today. The Counselor Holy Spirit is taking care of us and guiding us. Therefore, we should not be afraid, rely on God, and boldly move forward no matter what kind of situations we face.
