God Who Makes You Become Rich
2 Corinthians 8:9

2017-07-16

God created Adam and Eve and gave them everything they need in life in the Garden of Eden. The Garden of Eden was filled with beauty that cannot be described, and life there did not lack anything. However, Adam and Eve rebelled against God's command. God said, "You must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die." Adam and Eve rebelled against this word and ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. So the ground was cursed and poverty came into man's life. God does not want a life of poverty and hunger.

1. Abraham who was chosen by God
1) God chose Abraham in order to make His people. (Gen. 12:1~3)
2) God gave many livestock and wealth to Abraham. (Gen. 13:1~2)
3) The Israelites faced no poverty when they obeyed the word. (Deut. 28:11~14)

2. Abraham who gave the tithe
1) When Abraham's nephew Lot was captured as a slave, Abraham took 318 people with him and gained victory in war. He brought back Lot, his family, and wealth. (Gen. 14:14~16)
2) When Abraham was coming back after gaining victory in war, he gave tenth of what he gained to Melchizedek who was a king of Salem and God's priest. (Gen. 14:17~20)

3. God who gives the blessing
1) If God is with us, sufferings and trials turn into blessings. (Act. 7:9~10)
2) All things work for the good of those who love God. (Rom. 8:28)

4. Jesus who feeds the hungry
1) Jesus took pity on those who were hungry. A miracle where five thousand people were fed with five loaves of bread and two fish stemmed from Jesus' heart that took pity on people. (Matt. 14:16~21)
2) Jesus carried curses that we should have received and died on the cross. Therefore, if we look to the cross of Jesus, we get to live a life freed from curses. (2 Cor. 8:9)

Conclusion
If we look into a life of Abraham who God chose, we clearly know that God does not let His people to be naked and hungry. The will of God that makes His people rich was revealed in Abraham's life and Jesus' ministry. 3 John 1:2 says, "Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well." We who believe in God must put down every worry and anxiety and live by faith.
