Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
God Is So Good
Romans 8:31 ~ 8:39

2002-10-27

Most of us trust our parents and believe in their love for us. Because they are so good, they try to do good things for us. In 1958 when I first began to pastor in a small village in Daejeo-dong, I was mentally and physically distressed because of hunger and uneasiness about the future. At that time, I didn't know enough about God. I thought He would always rebuke me and judge me; I had no joy in my life. But then He helped me realize that He was love and wanted to make everything good for me. I was deeply moved when I read John 10:10 and 3 John 1:2. I had a new image of God, Oh! God is so good! I began to overflow with joy, confidence, and hope in my heart.

Why is God so good? He paid for our sins and justified us forever (Ezekiel 18:4; Revelation 20:15; 1 John 4:9). It is so precious that God sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. Jesus gives us salvation through faith (Ephesians 2:8,9). Man, woman, or child, young or old, educated or uneducated, western or oriental?e are all forgiven, saved, and justified only by faith. God is so good because He has given us the authority and the power to overcome the devil (1 John 2:16; Colossians 2:13-15; Luke 10:17-19). Through Christ Jesus, God has set us free from the law of sin and death (Romans 3:23; 8:1,2). God is so good.

Is God good even during trouble and difficulty? We may face problems because of our own fault, the devil's attack, or because of international or national disaster, but God is still good (Psalm 23:4; John 10:11-15). Sometimes He even gives us trouble and difficulty for His glory (2 Corinthians 4:16,17; Psalm 91:15). Then we can experience God's grace and strength during our trouble and despair (2 Corinthians 12:7-10; Psalm 23:5). When a deaconess who preached God's Word for many years was paralyzed from an accident, she asked God, "Why me?" But when God completely healed her she said, "My suffering was good, because now I have experienced healing from our good God, and my faith in Him is strong."

Life with such a good God. We can always be full of hope (Romans 8:28; Acts 13:22). We can always call out to God and He will answer us (Jeremiah 33:2,3). We must thank God in all circumstances (Psalm 50:23), even during calamities such as Joseph experienced (Genesis 50:20). God wants to deliver us and show us His goodness. We can always be encouraged in Him, and we must encourage one another with optimistic and positive hearts by studying the Word of God (Hebrews 10:23-25; John 15:7). The devil is bad; God is good. Only God can give us good things. We are in God's love and care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. God is so good!

Heavenly Father, thank You for proving Your great love by sending Jesus to die upon the Cross for us. Fill us with Your great love.
