Pastor Cho's Sermon Outline - Yoido Full Gospel Church - Seoul, Korea
Life of waiting for God
Psalms 123:1 ~ 123:2

2015-01-04

In old times, Korean women lived their lives while waiting and came to the end of their lives while waiting. In their youth, they lived alongside their parents waiting for them. After getting married, they spent a long time waiting for their husbands. Later on, they always waited for their grown-up sons visiting them. However, we ought to live our lives longing and waiting for God, the Creator of the Universe and the Master of our lives.

1. People who were blessed through waiting
1) Abraham waited for 25 years to have a son.
2) Isaac waited for the will of God at the moment of death being offered as a burnt offering feeling as if time flies like a thousand year.
3) Jacob waited for 20 years in a foreign land to get a wife and a flock of sheep.
4) Joseph waited for 13 years living in slavery and in a prison after having a dream presented by God.
5) Moses waited for 40 years living in the wilderness to fulfill his mission.
- Believing in God means to wait for God with perseverance.

2. People who failed in waiting
1) When Aaron and the Israelites made an idol calf out of gold failing to wait for Moses who went up the mountain Sinai to receive the laws, three thousands were put to death.
2) When the army of Philistine invaded, King Saul was greatly rebuked for offering a sacrifice that was supposed to be offered by the servant of God, not waiting for Samuel to the end.

3. God's grace not to have to wait
1) As Jesus has finished it on the Cross, we do not need to wait to be forgiven of sins, to receive the Holy Spirit, to be healed of diseases, to receive the blessings of Abraham, or to go to heaven. We can receive the grace of the five-fold blessings.
2) The kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence. Therefore, believe and program it fervently.

4. What should we wait for?
1) We ought to wait for the Lord who formed it and established it.
2) We ought to wait in outcry and prayer until God lets us know His providence.
3) We ought not to go before God nor fall behind Him.

It is so hard and frustrating to lead a life while waiting. However, those who wait for God are the blessed because God will perform great and unsearchable things for those who acknowledge His sovereignty and wait for Him.
